Bukit Tinggi, Indonesia

Photobucket

i was in bukit tinggi and padang last week. i was there with my grandparents, foster mama, mum and sister. it was one of the best after exam holiday i had not to mention the cute boys and the scenery which were just breath taking. it was very cold in bukit tinggi. its temperature was between 13-17 degree celcius.

before leaving for indonesia, i had told my mum how much i hated indonesia. its dirty. smelly. poluted. i hate it. but not knowing that bukit tinggi is the total opposite of what i have always seen in indonesia. no polution. its clean. its beautiful. the people are nice. just a destiination that i would want you to go.

yeah! i HATE AIR ASIA. it was the only flight to padang. and yes, my mum forced me. i hated it. the minute we had arrived padang, as i was walking out through the custom there i saw all the indonesian's standing out there. i dint really like it. and for me not knowing that mostly people in padang where the tudung and the songkok eventhough they are non-muslim. to them it is a culture to where it. so as for us the BIG CITY people, with our clothing of shorts and t-shirt, it was like seing a person without clothes at all. i was scared at first and soon it was pisting me off that all this indonesian's were staring at my group.

our tour guide pahmi and the driver eid, were the most wonderful people we have met. as soon as we started talking in the car, it was like we have known each other for long long time. no secrets just jokes and laughs. that had made the journey wonderful. we first stopped for a small breakfast at a restaurant. i tried the roti canai which was completely different than ours here in MALAYSIA. theirs were cruncy but salty. i liked it but my advice if you're on a diet, forget it. we than took off in the car to bukit tinggi. it was like going to the HIGHLANDS but less cars and much colder. we stopped at a waterfall but i was asleep so mum and the others got the opp to see it. i just got to see the pictures. :(

as you all my know, padang and bukit tinggi is all about the minangs. its design and culture is about the same as the negeri sembilan people here in malaysia. so along the way to bukit tinggi we would see houses with the shapes of the minangkabau. we later stopped at an old historical minang house. there were able to try on the clothes. with no doubt, my grandparents, sister and mum did. and the results was hilarious. while they were posing on the bridal chamber, another group of malaysian that was on the same flight with us arrived. they took pictures of us and we just couldnt stopped laughing because the fact that they thought we were models of the minang.

when we arrived at bukit tinggi, i had already imagined that we were going to stay in s 2 or 3 star hotel because bukit tinggi is a total KAMPUNG. suprisingly we stayed at the HILLS a 5 star hotel. its where prime ministers would stay when they come for a conference. we later did a lot of shopping. things were really cheap there. my mum finished 3 million rupiah and my grandparents dont ask. more than what they changed.

we saw the kampung kampung. well it was very interesting. basically the trip was great. i wanna write more. but maybe not just now cause i got to go..
